About KASE

JSC “Kazakhstan Stock Exchange” is a profit, joint stock company which organizes trades of financial instruments in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The stockholders of KASE include the Regional Financial Centre of Almaty (RFCA, the largest stockholder with 12.3% of all placed shares), banks, brokerages and dealerships, asset management companies, pension funds, and other financial organizations.

The stockholders of KASE include the National Bank of Kazakhstan (the largest stockholder with 12.1% of all placed shares, or 2.3% of all voting shares as of 1 June 2007), banks, brokerages and dealerships, asset management companies, pension funds, and other financial organizations.

KASE was founded 17 November 1993 as the joint stock company “Kazakh Interbank Currency Exchange”, and was re-registered on 12 April 1996 as the “Kazakhstan Stock Exchange”.

At the present, KASE is a universal exchange and serves the following markets:

• Direct and automatic repo with collateral in the form of government and corporate securities;
• Foreign currencies (US dollars, euros, and Russian rubles);
• Government securities issued by the National Bank, Ministry of Finance and local executive agencies in Kazakhstan;
• Bonds of international finance institutions and foreign government securities;
• Bills of exchange;
• Stock;
• Corporate bonds.

KASE uses its own trading floor, including an electronic trading system, remote access, electronic signatures and electronic document processing, and cryptographic data security and data saving in real time.

The KASE market currently is characterized by a series of market indices and indicators, the main ones being KASE_Shares, KASE_BY, TONIA, and KazPrime.

To publish information on the exchange market, KASE uses its web site, www.kase.kz.
To create the capacity to receive data on the exchange market in real time, in 2006 KASE developed a project entitled “Ticker” which includes regularly updated data of several Kazakhstani exchange and financial market indicators and their changes. Ticker also shows the headlines of major news on the organized market that are posted on the KASE web site.
