Kazakhstan and the region have found it tough going over the last few month. Previously markets were seen as more about funding growth – today this is still relevant, however, they are also about providing companies with appropriate capital structures – both equity and debt.

A local stock exchange traditionally supports the development of local business and the development of a country’s capital markets. Kazakhstan has been actively working towards an active capital market and, through the RFCA, has been implementing a number of new initiatives to provide a better market place and allow Kazakh and regional companies enjoy the benefits of a more liquid and well running exchange.

Exchange and market places however do need changes in behaviors of companies and the way they run – sense of long term strategy and the company’s competitive position and value, transparency to investors and shareholders, building towards a relationship of trust, understanding and tolerance.

Visor Capital, Deloitte and the RFCA are proud to hold a two-day IPO Master Class “Reaching New Peaks” in Almaty. The agenda is designed to help participants understand the route to and various aspects of the equity and debt markets - from the preparation and legal process, director responsibilities, corporate governance, financial reporting, what ‘trading’ means, investor relations, to the question of ‘where capital will come from’, and the rules of the exchange.
