The presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed at an informal meeting to set up a joint anti-crisis fund to the amount of $10 billion "to assist the states in overcoming consequences of the global economic crisis," the Kazakh presidential press service reported on Monday.
"During the summit, the heads of state discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to regional cooperation, including collective security and joint resolution of economic problems amid the global crisis," it said.
The participants in the summit "reached an agreement to set up prompt response forces within the CSTO (the Collective Security Treaty Organization) to provide security of its member-states," it said.
The informal meeting between the presidents of Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan took place in the resort of Borovoye in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan at Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative on December 19-21.
