Kazakhmys intends to embark on new deposits

Kazakhmys, a large copper producer, intends to develop new deposits, said Eduard Ogay, CEO of Kazakhmys LLC.
"We would like, together with Samruk (Samruk-Kazyna state fund - Interfax-Kazakhstan) or through some other mechanisms, to develop new deposits," he told a Thursday meeting of the political council of the Nur Otan Party in Astana.
According to Ogay, that will help develop infrastructure and create new working places.
"Thus we will create demand for such a profession as geologist," he said.
Kazakhmys PLC is a leading international natural resources group, listed in the UK and Kazakhstan, with significant interests in copper, gold, zinc, silver, power generation and petroleum. The corporation consists of four production companies:
Zhezkazganstvetmet, Balkhashtsvetment, Vostoktsvetmet, Karagandatsvetment. It also has oil and gold producing subsidiaries.
