The year-on-year inflation (December 2007 vs. December 2008) totaled 9.5%, statistics agency reported on Monday.
Meanwhile, the average annual inflation (January-December 2007 to January-December 2008) was 17%.
The inflation in December 2008 was 0.2%. In December prices for foodstuffs increased by 0.5%, non-food commodities fell by 0.1% and services rose by 0.2%.
According to the statistics agency, prices for dairy products on food market rose by 2.2%, baked goods increased in price by1.1%. Prices for vegetables rose by 2.2%, fruit - by 0.9%. Tobacco products went up by 2.6% and alcohol products increased in price by 1.8%.
Prices for sunflower oil slid down by 7%, flour went down by 1.3% , bread by 0.4% and rice by 0.3%.
In December, diesel fuel prices went down by 6.7% while gasoline prices decreased by 5.9%.
Inflation in Kazakhstan for 2007 came to 18.8%.
